Look at what Grandpa and Grandma brought to our backyard the day of the party. Will was so excited, and he even got to help put it together. All of the kids had a blast playing, swinging, sliding, and climbing at the party that night...even Lauren. She has her own special swing!
Our games were a hit, and unfortunately, it was so much fun, we forgot to take pictures! Oops! First of all, there were four teams, and almost all the adults participated. One team was the Lightning McQueen Team (Red), another was the Chick Hicks Team (Green), another was The King Team (Light Blue), and the last one was the Hudson Hornet team (Dark Blue). Each team had a Crew Chief who was in charge of keeping track of points and organizing their team to work together. So for the first game, we made pumpkins out of orange construction paper, and I hid them in the backyard like an Easter egg hunt. Each pumpkin had a special color code on it which designated how many points the team got for each pumpkin. Individual prizes were also given for this game. The second game was a relay. The first player had to carry their team car on a spoon across the yard. The second player had to crawl under a table and the slide. The third player had to run zig-zags through caution cones, and the final player had to sprint to the end. Finally, each team had to construct their own team car, complete with tires, steering wheel, and racing number. After they had taped their car components onto the body of their racing machine, each team had to rrrrrrace across the yard to the checkered flag....Wow! what a finish. The race winners were given points, and at the end, the team with the most points was awarded, instead of a Piston Cup, the 2011 Sippy Cup...a McQueen sippy cup taped to the bottom of a plastic bowl. We thought it was cute!
Well, the cake melted, b/c I had the bright idea of not wanting anyone to see the cake until the party. So I put it up on the fridge. DUMB! Unfortunately, I did not think to take a pic of the before cake. However, everyone thought it tasted yummy. They sounded like they meant it...
I think Will was just pleased that it had a new McQueen on it as well as M&Ms. Yesssss!
As always, little sister stole every one's heart. Thankfully, there were plenty of arms and kisses to give so that Mommy could be the hostess with the mostest!
Anyway, the party was a success, and we are so proud of our little man. He has learned so much and become such a gentleman at such a young age. I am always so pleased to hear others tell me how pleasant he is to be around. He has blessed us and challenged us. What a privilege to be his parents!
Stay tuned for Lauren's Birthday Blog...it's only 2 1/2 weeks away. I guess this season is just gonna be crazy every year. Oh well, fun times.
